Ganesh Visarjan - Celebrating Hindu Festivals in Toronto

Some thing that I always look forward to in the month of September right here in the city of Toronto is Ganesh Visarjan -- the annual celebration where by a the murti of Lord Ganesh is immersed into water after puja is done starting on Ganesh Chaturthi and lasting for approximately 11 days.

Joining in and participating in Hindu festivals makes you a part of the community -- it gives you that shared sense of identity which is MUCH needed when growing up as a Hindu in North America. Creating a Hindu identity is not only an individual effort, but also a collective of the community.
