Behringer Edge taking off with EHX Tube Zipper fuzz/filter and Dynacord Echocord Super 76 tape delay

Описание к видео Behringer Edge taking off with EHX Tube Zipper fuzz/filter and Dynacord Echocord Super 76 tape delay

In this video, I’m exploring the Behringer Edge synth paired with the Electro-Harmonix Tube Zipper fuzz and envelope filter, showcasing their wild and percussive capabilities. The setup includes a Dynacord Echocord Super 76 tape echo with spring reverb, blending vintage German grit with the synth’s modern sounds. Audio is recorded on a Yamaha MT-50 4-track cassette recorder using a RAKS SD-X 90 cassette with light EQ adjustments.

🎹 About the Behringer Edge Synth:

The famous ‪@MoogSynthesizers‬ DFAM's closest twin, but MIDI compliant. I bought this one out of coquetry. Just thought it would look so nice with a ‪@behringer‬ Crave. Joke on me, I used the Crave four times and I stopped counting with the Edge. Not bad for a GAS-induced move. It's wild, it's Detroit, it's Berlin, it's Madchester, it's taking you to dark, percussive places. But not only. And we'll try to fully appreciate that in this video. Don't tell anyone, but my 2600 is collecting dust as we speak.

➿ About the Dynacord Echocord Super 76 tape echo/delay, and its Scotch tape loop:

Almost forgot to mention that it does spring reverb too, and that both effects can be blended with a little help from a simple potentiometer! This unit has much more soul and grit than your typical ‪@rolandglobal‬ Space Echo. Made in Germany in the seventies, this tape echo is dirty, noisy, but that's a small price to pay for a powerful preamp. Two channels, two speeds and a reliable slider, easy self-oscillation abilities, should I keep going? The tape I'm using here is half a meter of Scotch 203 Dynarange. This tape doesn't shed, hardly deforms, and beats the overly recommended BASF LGR50 any day. Might be a matter of bias in the end, who knows, and who cares. On a lighter note, I owe my DIN-solder abilities to this Dynacord Echocord Super 76.

⚡ About the Electro-Harmonix Tube Zipper fuzz and envelope filter:

Got this one in the mail a few days ago. Where to begin? It's equipped with 2 ‪@EHX‬ 12AX7EH and it's the wildest pedal I've ever owned. It's my all-time favorite already. I tried to tame it with two Sylvanias 12AU7 but that move was a waste of energy, both for me and the EHX Tube Zipper's stamina. Conclusion: can't tame it, can't hate it. Extremely sensitive, it's a stainless box of surprises. While looking for an envelope filter I tried really hard to get my hands on a Guyatone Flip Funky Box and I'm now just really glad that I couldn't find one.

The pairing for the Behriger Edge and the EXH Tube Zipper seemed natural since these are two savage, nervous, unstable machines.

🎛️ About the audio transfer:

Yamaha MT-50 4-track cassette recorder, light EQ to compensate potential loss
RAKS SD-X 90 cassette tape (1990, Type 2 Chrome)
Behringer MIC500 USB (Brimar 12AU7 - ECC82)
‪@audacity‬ & Adobe Premiere Pro 2024.
