The Solomon Islands is not known as a traditional footballing hotbed, it’s really not thought about at all in a footballing sense. But, over the last few years, a great hope has emerged in the Solomon Islands league that has put up truly outrageous performances that absolutely boggle the mind. So much so, that Europe has come calling.

Raphael Lea’i has become the Messi of the Solomon Islands, a diminutive winger who has taken over the domestic league at an alarmingly young age. He has shown himself more than up to international competition, including European opposition, so can he really be the first great Pacific footballer? This is his story… so far.
