Originally airing on March 21st, 2017, CityTV promotes the upcoming UEFA Women’s Champions League (“UWCL”) Quarterfinals between USWNT captain, midfielder and two-time FIFA Women’s World Player of the Year (“WPOTY”) in 2015 and 2016, Carli Lloyd and her new FA Women’s Super League Division 1 (“FAWSL1”) English club side Manchester City Women (“Man City” or “MCWFC”) and Danish team, Fortuna Hjørring (“Fortuna”) During the first leg, held on the night of March 23rd, 2017 in a match held at Bredband Nord Arena in Denmark, Lloyd scored her first goal EVER for Man City in the 36th minute on a header assisted by striker and Scottish international, Jane Ross to put the team up 1-0 in what would be the eventual game winner and end scoreline. This was Lloyd’s debut in the competition and as always, she was clutch, coming up big in another big moment. The goal was particularly important because it was scored away (away goals count double) on the Danish squad’s field. Next up, the Man City Lady “Blues” will host Fortuna on March 30th, 2017 in the second leg of the Quarterfinals on their home turf at Academy Stadium. Should they make it through to the semifinal, either USWNT teammate, Alex Morgan and her new French Division 1 club side Olympique Lyonnais Feminine (“OLF”) who sit atop the league or second-ranked Bundesliga team VFL Wolfsburg (“WOLB”) await.
