In this second Fraction session, we continue the understanding of fractions by helping students collect data on different representations of numbers (fraction, decimal, mixed fraction, decimal fraction, simplified fraction) using the Standard-Decimal capabilities and the fraction templates on the fx-300 ESPlus2 Scientific Calculator (the same process would apply to all other Casio calculator buttons that have the fraction template). There is discussion on the importance of connecting the representations and letting students determine the process needed to convert one representation to another.
