In 1999, a woman was found running
naked and chained through the desert near Elephant
Butte, New Mexico. Her escape led police to a horrifying
discovery: a trailer outfitted with torture devices,
surgical tools, and restraints. This was the home of David
Parker Ray, later dubbed the "Toy Box Killer." Ray had
transformed the trailer into a soundproof torture
chamber where he recorded himself abusing his victims
-many of whom were drugged and had no memory of
their ordeal. He kept detailed journals describing the
torture of over 60 women across several years.
Despite his disturbing confessions and the overwhelming
evidence found in his trailer, including tapes and personal
items belonging to victims, no human remains were ever
found. Ray was eventually convicted and sentenced to
224 years in prison. However, he died of a heart attack in
2002, just three years into his sentence. To this day,
many believe the full extent of his crimes remains
unknown, and questions linger about the fate of his
victims.
