Should AI Music be Allowed?

AI MUSIC SUED
AI tools are now capable of generating pretty realistic music, and can even create songs using AI versions of real artists' voices. They're some of the reasons why a bunch of big record labels have teamed up to sue two AI music generators. They believe these AI programs are stealing their artist's work to train their AI models without permission, and say this isn't allowed. But the makers of Suno AI disagree. They say they're not directly copying any songs, because their technology generates completely new music.

US PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE
US President Joe Biden and former US President Donald Trump have gone head-to-head for one of the most high-stakes moments of the US presidential campaign, the first debate! It was a pretty frosty start with no handshake, not even a nod between these two presidential candidates, but of course things heated up from there. This is the first ever debate between a sitting president and a former one.

SINKHOLE
And staying in the US, check out what happened on this soccer field in Illinois. It was swallowed by a 30-metre wide, nine metre deep sinkhole! Local officials say the field was built on top of an underground mine, which may be why the ground collapsed.

WOMEN'S STATE OF ORIGIN
It was Queensland who lifted the shield in front of a sold out crowd after winning a riveting decider against the Blues, 22-6. Despite some less-than-ideal weather, a late try to Tazmin Rapana sealed the deal.

NBA DRAFT
There's also been a pretty big victory for LeBron James, because his oldest son Bronny just got drafted into the NBA, which means LeBron's dream of a father-son duo on the court is one step closer to reality! And Australia's had a win too with our very own Johnny Furphy being drafted by the Indiana Pacers.

OLDEST AFL PLAYER
And on the topic of Aussie talent, you might be asking yourself "What's the old guy doing out there?". Well, that's Neil Rainbow — Australia's oldest AFL player! At the age of 76, he'll soon be taking to the field in the first ever over-70s game at the AFL Masters National Carnival!

EURO 2024 SAUSAGES
How long does it take to make a sausage? Seconds? Minutes, maybe? OK I'm not entirely sure, but I know it doesn't normally take four weeks. That's how long these butchers spent getting these flag sausages right to celebrate Germany hosting the European soccer championships. Yup no food colouring here. Let's just say it involves poppy seeds, turkey mince, apricots and cream cheese. Mmm.

CAPYBARA MOVES TO FLORIDA
Meet Iyari, she's a 10 month old capybara that's just arrived at a Florida Zoo to find love! Keepers are hoping for baby versions of these large South American rodents as part of their breeding program, but they say they'll be slowly introduced and it's up to them when they get together!

HUMAN SKIN GROWN FOR ROBOTS
And scientists at Tokyo University are slowly working on creating a smiling face made from living human skin! Yes, they're human skin cells grown into a collagen covering and placed on top of a 3D printed resin base. Basically a new nightmare unlocked. But researchers they hope it can one day be put on a humanoid robot to help it communicate in a more lifelike way!
