Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is one of the most common disease states encountered in primary care, affecting 10.6% of patients in Bexar County. The incretin agents, DPP-4 inhibitors and GLP-1 agonists, are used for the treatment of T2DM by promoting glucose-dependent insulin release by different mechanisms. The purpose of this presentation is to determine the safety and potential for synergy of dual incretin therapy by reviewing the available literature.
