How to Install Fedora 41 Workstation with Manual Partitions | Fedora 41 Installation Guide | Fedora Linux 41 is the first release to switch to DNF5 for a faster and more enhanced package management experience. Benefits of DNF5 include a fully featured package manager without the requirement of Python, smaller install size, significantly faster for many user cases, reduced number of software management tools, optimization of download metadata, and unified behavior in the software management stack.
Fedora Linux 41 enables systemd service hardening features for the default system services to improve security, accelerates the GnuTLS implementation with software Kernel TLS (KTLS), adds ROCm 6.2 support for AMD users, and enables bootupd for Fedora Atomic Desktops and Fedora IoT editions, the latter also featuring composefs by default.

Among other changes, there’s a new command line tool called fedora-repoquery for doing repoqueries of Fedora Linux, EPEL, eln, and CentOS Stream package repositories. On top of that, this release adds support for self-encrypting drives in the Fedora Installer, Intel IPU6 camera support, and splits /usr/bin/dtrace from systemtap-sdt-devel (systemtap) into a separate package to optimize many buildroots.

Under the hood, Fedora Linux 41 ships with an up-to-date default software selection, as well as an updated GNU toolchain consisting of GCC 14, GNU Binutils 2.42, GNU C Library 2.40, and GDB 14, as well as other technologies like RPM 4.20, Python 3.13, Go 1.23, LLVM 19, Perl 5.40, and Node.js 22.

Fedora Linux 41 is available for download right now from the official website for 64-bit (amd64) and AArch64 (arm64) platforms. Of course, this release is intended for new installations as existing Fedora Linux 40 users can upgrade their installations using DNF system-upgrade or via GNOME Software on the Fedora Workstation edition.
