Downfall by Lachin Kerbabaeva

This is my 1st sophomore film at Ringling College of Art and Design. I wrote, directed, and edited this short film as part of my directing class. The requirements for this film were to show your interpretation of a nursery rhyme or a poem using an outside, on-campus location.
I decided to give a new meaning to Anna Akhmatova's famous Russian poem by adding a background story about a female character's addiction. After going through all the stages of production and many changes, this film formed its own shape.

Poem inspiration:
I wrung my hands under my dark veil…
He asked: “Why are you so pale today?”
— Because I’ve made my loved one drunk
with my astringent sadness.
How to forget? He went out, reeling;
his mouth was twisted, desolate . . .
I ran downstairs, not touching the railings,
I was running for him to the gate.
While choking, I shouted: “All what happened, I meant it in fun.
Don’t leave, or I’ll die of pain.”
He smiled at me — so calmly and terribly —
And he said:
«Don't stand in the wind.»
