Splatoon 2 Ranked Speedrun | Rainmaker | C- to Rank X in

Valk from C- here. To the best of my knowledge, this is the first ranked mode speedrun of Splatoon 2.

Before the speedrun: I purchased Octo Expansion, created a new account, and got the 3-star Studio Headphones and Octo Tee. Played hero mode to get some tickets. Turfed until level 10. Midway, I ordered a 3-star pair of shoes from Murch.

This is a pretty sloppy first attempt and I expect it to be beaten sooner rather than later. What sucks about ranked speedruns is that if you mess up, you can't just hit reset and try again. You'll have to grind to level 10 all over again.

I didn't plan out which weapon to use beforehand and had to do a bit of testing in the first few games before I settled on a weapon I was comfortable with. Also, at the 8:40 mark, I went AFK for 4 minutes to do something, which would never happen in a proper speedrun. I also decided to go eat at Crusty Sean's midway through for more money. Most importantly, I played late at night when lobbies filled up very slowly. All things I plan on fixing in the next iteration.

I paused the timer when the Rainmaker rotation ended and resumed it when I clicked join for the first rainmaker match of the next rotation. The timer stopped when my team dunked the rainmaker for the last time.

I'm considering doing speedruns for the other ranked modes in the future, and welcome others to give them a try as well.
