Sure if I had a crazy budget I would go with something like the Cineo lights, or others but if you want a mid-range LED, that gets the job done, is super flexible in it's use cases and is rugged (with great quality light!) then these are for you. In my mind these overall can help you make one of the best video lighting kits, especially for the cost.

I recently switched from Kino-Flo lights to the Westcott LED's lights. This didn't have anything to do with the quality of the light. Kino-Flo's are amazing, and I have used them for years. For my situation though I needed a highly portable, rugged light that I could take EVERYWHERE.

With the 1x1 Westcott Flex lights I can pack 4 of the mats in the same or slightly smaller space than an average laptop. If I want to travel to a client site I can pack 5, all the power supplies, dimmers, scrim jims, diffusion in less space that one Kino Diva.

The light that comes out of these lights is dead on consistent daylight and the CRI is amazing.

I show you a couple quick tips today on how you can get the most out of them, show you how you can use gels to use these inexpensive LED lights to get colored effects and how you can use a bounce surface and one light to get really nice lighting.

One thing I really love about the Westcott Flex panels is that I can mold them into place, and clamp or tape them anywhere I need. I frequently use them in places I could fit a light before by pushing and taping them into a corner, in the dash of a car, on a kitchen or filing cabinet. If I have an assistant they can carry them all day long without getting tired.
