Is DEADPOOL a Rip-Off of DEATHSTROKE? || Comic Misconceptions || NerdSync

Deadpool and Deathstroke may seem like very similar characters, but was Marvel's Merc with a Mouth truly a shameless rip-off from DC's Deathstroke? Did Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza intentionally set out to make a carbon copy of Slade Wilson when they created Wade Wilson? Or is it possible that the whole thing was a crazy coincidence and Deadpool's likeness to Deathstroke is completely unrelated or perhaps even subconscious?
