Odoo Installation steps

Build your server
-------------------------------------------------------
sudo apt-get install openssh-server
sudo apt-get update


Install and configure the database server, PostgreSQL
----------------------------------------------
sudo apt-get install postgresql
----------------------------------
create a super user and create a database for that user

create database:
-------------------------
create database test;
----------------------------
create super user
------------------------------------------------------
create user username with password 'password' superuser;
----------------------------------------------------

exit psql-\q

enter postgres as new user
----------------------------------------------
psql -h localhost -p 5432 -U username dbname;
-----------------------------------------------

to list all database-\l

Python Dependencies

sudo apt-get install git python3 python3-pip build-essential wget python3-dev python3-venv python3-wheel libxslt-dev libzip-dev libldap2-dev libsasl2-dev python3-setuptools node-less libjpeg-dev gdebi -y

Python pip dependecies

sudo -H pip3 install -r https://raw.githubusercontent.com/odo...

sudo apt-get install xfonts-75dpi

LOG Directory

sudo mkdir /var/log/odoo
sudo chown odoo:odoo /var/log/odoo

Create the Odoo user that will own and run the application

to enter as user:

INSTALL ODOO

sudo git clone --depth 1 --branch 14.0 https://www.github.com/odoo/odoo /odoo/odoo-server

Create Server Config File

edit "/etc/odoo-server.conf"
[options]
admin_passwd = admin
db_name = 'dbname'
db_user = 'username'
db_password = 'username'
db_host = 'localhost'
db_port = 5432
addons_path = /opt/username/addons

Change ownership

sudo chown odoo:odoo /etc/odoo-server.conf
sudo chmod 640 /etc/odoo-server.conf

Download Odoo File

RUN ODOO

sudo su - odoo -s /bin/bash
cd /odoo/odoo-server
./odoo-bin -c /etc/odoo-server.conf

Odoo is a suite of business management software tools including, for example, CRM, e-commerce, billing, accounting, manufacturing, warehouse, project management, and inventory management. The Community version is a libre software, licensed under the GNU LGPLv3. The Enterprise version has proprietary extra features and services. The source code for the framework and core ERP modules is curated by the Belgium-based Odoo S.A. Odoo is available for both on-premise and ready to use SaaS environment.

From inception, Odoo S.A (formerly OpenERP S.A) has released the core software as open source. Since the V9.0 release, the company has transitioned to an open core model, which provides subscription-based proprietary enterprise software and cloud-hosted software as a service, in addition to the open source version. In 2013, the not-for-profit Odoo Community Association was formed to promote the widespread use of Odoo and to support the collaborative development of Odoo features.

Odoo's extensible architecture allows a large number of freelancers and organizations to develop Odoo Apps or Modules and place them in the marketplace for sale or to be downloaded for free. The main Odoo components are the framework, about 30 core applications (also called official modules), and thousands of community modules.

Odoo has been used as a component of university courses. A study on experimental learning suggested that Odoo (then known as OpenERP) provides a suitable alternative to proprietary systems to supplement teaching.
