Lower Pines Campground is one of several developed campgrounds inside of Yosemite National Park, but most importantly, one of the ones deep inside Yosemite Valley, the most popular section of the park.

When you think of highly competitive campgrounds inside of Yosemite that are infamously hard to get a reservation at, this is among those.

In fact, over our two visits this summer, we never once saw a vacant, reservable site on recreation.gov at this campground. So, your best bet is to be ready when they release sites online early on in the year, and use our campground drive thrus to get an idea of which sites you want to go for first.

Our experience doing that has been difficult, meaning every time we have tried, someone, (or something, aka a bot) seems to beat us to it every time.

Do note if this happens, there are some great campgrounds, like Crane Flat, also inside the park, but about a 40 minute drive from the valley. You may have a better chance booking on of those.

Our drive through impression of Lower Pines is that there seem to be a few interesting sites bordering the Merced River. Most sites seemed to have spacing that's par for the course for National Park, but overall, camping privacy can be a mixed bag. But hey, you are in Yosemite, so being around lots of people (in the busy seasons) is to be expected, right?
