The Queen and the Quincentennial

The National Quincentennial Committee (NQC) is an adhoc government body organized to prepare the country in commemorating the 500 years of the Victory at Mactan and the Philippine part in the achievement of humanity in the first circumnavigation of the world.

One of the activities the national government is preparing is to exhibit in various parts of the country the 16th-century Visayan warrior-inspired national costume of 2018 Miss Universe Catriona Gray. The item, which is in loan with the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, helps the national government educate our countrymen about the time of Lapulapu and our Visayan ancestors--that we had flowering civilization prior to Spanish colonization worthy of appreciation.

This video was commissioned by the NQC to contextualize further Cat's national costume.
