In my talk, I dive into the issue of imposter syndrome, especially in the tech world. I started by asking if anyone has ever felt like everyone thinks they’ve got it all together, but inside they’re completely out of their depth. That’s what imposter syndrome feels like, and it’s something that affects a lot of people in tech—up to 73%, according to some stats I found. It’s a big deal because it can mess with your mental health, slow down your career, and even hurt the company you work for, as people might hide away instead of stepping up with new ideas.

But what really hits home for me is how imposter syndrome ties into diversity and inclusion. If you don’t look or sound like everyone else around you, the pressure can feel even heavier. You might feel like you’ve got to be the best because you’re representing your entire group, whether that’s based on race, gender, or something else. I’ve seen how this pressure can hold people back, and I think it’s crucial for companies to recognize and address it.
