This heartbreaking incident has sparked nationwide outrage, highlighting the ongoing racism faced by Northeast Indians in mainland India. Five accused have been arrested, while the main suspect, Yagnaraj Awasthi (reportedly fled to Nepal), remains absconding with a ₹25,000 reward announced for his capture. Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has assured strict action and justice.
