Graduate Lisa Edelmaier delivers her motivational graduation oration at our winter 2025 ceremony in McEwan Hall 🎓

As a new graduate from Edinburgh College of Art, she reminds her fellow artists, designers and musicians to meet uncertainty with curiosity, to apply empathy in the face of opposition, and to approach problems with nuance. Reminding us we are not the creators of an undetermined tomorrow, but of today, and it’s up to us to shape the world we live in.

With the hope that each graduate will make work that resonates at their core, keep learning and growing, and fulfill potential they don’t yet realise they have, this oration looks ahead with confidence, kindness and creative courage.
