This class will examine the new reality of filmmaking and distribution in the digital age. We'll cover a wide range of topics defining the roles of the distributor, sales agent, sales consultants, producer representative, buyers, sellers, and what is a service deal, VOD, P&A, and other pertinent things you need to know.

We will then examine emerging markets such as iTunes, Netflix, Hulu & Crackle, Amazon & Microsoft, Day & Date, Torrent, Television, Platforms and their role in distribution. Next, we'll talk about best practices and how early discussions, relationships, and re-submittals can result in best-case scenarios for distribution of your film.

Finally, we will engage in case studies of the films Martha Marcy May Marlene, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Fruitvale Station, and Drive in order to define the realities of each of these films and how/why they were successful.
