The Higonokami is made by Mitsuo Nagao (not Higonokami or Kanekoma as mentioned in my video), the 5th generation founder's family son, who trademarked the Higonokami from Sado Kanekoma registered company in Japan: https://www.higonokami.jp/en/

Nagao Kanekoma is the only company allowed to use the trademark Higonokami name. Every other Japanese knife is named a variation of the Higonokami as long as you don't see the trademark of Sado Kanekoma on the knife sheath.
