How to Make Money with Google Task Mate

Google is now offering a fabulous way for people to make money. The Google Task Mate is an app that allows you to get paid by doing tasks. Currently, only the trial or Beta version of Google Task Mate is available in India.

You can download the app from Google Play Store and await their invitation to start performing small tasks.

Surely you’ve heard about various apps such as TaskRabbit, Gigwalker and Amazon Flex among others that allow people to perform small offline or online tasks and earn some money.

Google Task Mate comes somewhere between this category. In the sense that Google Task App doesn’t really offer you external jobs or side-gigs

These include Google Translate and Google Maps, to start with. At the time of writing this article, Google Task Mate is offering money only to improve these two features.

There’re possibilities that Google might add more tasks to these as Google Task Mate goes for full launch worldwide or in select countries.

Broadly speaking, there’re two types of tasks that you’ll find on Google Task Mate. One of them is Sitting Tasks while the other is Field Tasks.

As the term implies, Sitting Tasks on Google Task Mate are those you could perform from office, home or any other location. Generally, these are micro-tasks. These include transcribing a sentence from English to your native language or vice-versa, rewriting small sentences after proofreading, recording a sentence or word for Google Translate.

Or giving written or verbal directions to some popular place that people search on Google Maps. If you’re a motorist, you could also provide recordings of instructions to drive to a nearby location from your area.

The second and higher paying category of work available on Google Task Mate are Field Tasks. This means you’ve to go outdoors to specific locations in your area. Generally, Field Tasks involve snapping pictures of storefronts and display boards of banks, schools and other establishments that people search for or need to visit frequently.

You’ll have to upload them on Google Maps. And in some instances, you’ll have to write small descriptions whether wheelchair ramps or parking space is available at the location and ease of access, among others.

Getting started with Google Task Mate isn’t as simple as downloading the app and registering for work. I’ll explain why.

While you can easily download Google Task Mate from Google Play Store, the app won’t work unless you have a Referral Code or Reference Link. This is available from Google only.

There’re some videos on YouTube that promise to offer the code in future. However, these are bogus at best because Google will send reference links only to registered users. These reference links aren’t shareable.

Therefore, a word of caution: if you’re using a reference link provided on some YouTube channel, Google Task Mate app will work for a day or two only and cease working automatically. This means, you’ll automatically lose any money for tasks that you’ve done by activating Google Task Mate on somebody else’s reference link.

The best way to get a reference link is by downloading the app and registering yourself. A reference link, reference code or invitation link will arrive in your registered email in 10 to 15 days, according to information from various sources.

Upon getting the reference code, reference link or invitation code and activating Google Task Mates, you’ll find four different levels of membership and earning.

All beginners start at the Bronze level. This means, you can start doing small tasks and earn money right from the word ‘Go’.

You have to ‘bid’ for a task depending on your language skills for translations and transcribing. And for Field Task you’ve to bid in line with your location. For example, if you’re residing on Pulaski Highway, Baltimore, you can’t bid for a task in Washington DC or Annapolis, MD, unless you’re going there several times a week for work or other purposes.

Upon completion of a specific number of tasks, you’ll move to the Silver level. The more tasks you complete, the higher you can move. The last level is Platinum.

Google wants to ensure that all Sitting Tasks and Field Tasks are completed accurately. Therefore, the Google Task Mate app features a ratings system. Here, it’s important to remember that Google doesn’t rate your tasks: it’s users of Google Translate and Google Maps who’ll do that according to their experience with your translations, transcriptions, directions and pictures.

The rating system is very simple. A user has to choose between one and five stars for your work. One being the lowest and five the highest. This can often prove to be a disadvantage because a lot of users don’t leave a rating.
