Railroad Crossings of Lawrence County, AL

Описание к видео Railroad Crossings of Lawrence County, AL

Since I had gotten all of the active railroad crossings in Lawrence County recorded, I decided to make this video showing them all in order from west to east, with the NS Champion Paper Branch showing them from south to north between the two crossings where the branch line breaks off. This county only has a total of 11 active signalized crossings, and is probably the most-upgraded out of all of the counties I've been to, with only one mechanical bell and two gateless crossings (both gateless crossings are also on the branch line). The last 8 inch lights were at Jefferson Street in Courtland, and were replaced just earlier this year. Out of the towns that have lines in them, Courtland has the most crossings as it's the largest town along this stretch of the NS Memphis District East End. There are also only three crossings with 12x24 inch lights in the county, and only four installs from before the mid-2000s remain along the line, with half of them being on the branch line. The two on the main have gates which start to descend almost immediately after the signals have activated. The county also features four LED crossings, the most of any county along the NS Memphis District East End. There are also very few NEG gate lights in this county, with only two crossings having them (the rest use RECO gate lights). The county does have a small mixture of e-bells though, with a mixture of General Signals Type 2s, General Signals Type 3s, a Safetran Type 2, and Safetran Type 3s, in addition to the lone Safetran mechanical bell. All active signalized crossings in this county are owned and maintained by Norfolk Southern.
