Скачать или смотреть T3 Alliance: A proven method to empower students in community engagement (STEM Education Team)

In this meeting of the Arctic STEM Education Team, presenter Adam Low (UAF/T3 Alaska) described how the T3 Alliance (Teaching Through Technology) program has evolved from a NSF-supported project through a network of Upward Bound Programs, to one that has used funding from the Office of Naval Research to serve students and communities outside of this network. T3 Alliance is a program that emphasizes building a safe learning environment for students using makerspace tools and technologies and then training teachers (T3 Coaches) to facilitate problem-based learning in communities through research and community partnerships. The University of Alaska Fairbanks supports the network of sites with curriculum, technical expertise, and dual credit opportunities. The program is operated through a partnership with a nonprofit partner that facilitates training opportunities across the national and international community. This presentation shared how T3 Alliance has been able to inspire and connect Arctic students to the bigger world. Students participate in a “hero’s journey” and return to their communities with the skills and knowledge to address their communities' issues. They are leading programs and pulling in students and community partners.
