About this video: This video is our complete guide on how to make Minecraft run faster and fix lag in Minecraft. This will let you get more FPS and make Minecraft run smoother all while still being able to get a good render distance and have the game more playable than before.

First things first, we need to get Sodium. Sodium is a mod that optimizes Minecraft and allows for a lot of the heavy lifting that will boost FPS and fix Minecraft lag.

You can find a complete guide on how to get Sodium in the description above as well as how to get Fabric, which is the mod loader that Sodium uses. You will need to get Sodium in order to make Minecraft smoother and as lag-free as possible.

It is also worth noting that you should add more RAM to Minecraft if possible. This can be done from the Minecraft Launcher. Click “Installations” and then click three dots next to your Fabric version and click “Edit”. View more options for the version and set the first option in JVM arguments to “-Xmx4G” to dedicate 4GB of RAM to Minecraft.

Once you have Sodium and more RAM added to Minecraft, run Minecraft with Sodium. Then, make sure that you don’t have any active texture packs. No matter what, the default Minecraft resource pack loads. That means any texture pack added will make Minecraft lag.

Now, we can go to Options, Video Settings to start over how to make Minecraft run faster using Sodium.

First, you will be in the “General” tab. Here, turn the Render Distance 2, Simulation Distance to 5, and make sure VSync is off with Max Framerate turned all the way up to Unlimited. Those are really the only settings that will affect Minecraft FPS on this tab.

Next, select the “Quality” tab at the top of Minecraft. Here, set Graphics to fast, turn off clouds, set Weather and Leaves to fast, Particles to minimal, Smooth Lighting off, Biome Blend to 1, Entity Distance to 50%, set Mimap Levels to zero, and turn off Entity Distance and Shadows. This page is a massive Minecraft lag fix optimizing lighting and graphics to make Minecraft run faster.

The next tab is performance, and this will also help to make Minecraft less laggy by improving the code in different parts of Minecraft fixing lag. On this page, Chunk Updates should be set to default. Everything else should be turned on and enabled. This will give you the biggest impact in regards to fixing lag in Minecraft, so it’s super important that everything is turned on.

On the Advanced tab, Use Persistent Mapping should be turned on and CPU Render-Ahead Limit should be set to about the middle of the option you have. This will be different depending on your CPU.

Finally, click “Apply” in the bottom left of Minecraft. You now know how to make Minecraft run faster. To check your FPS, just press F3 in-game. You will see your FPS in the top left.

With that being said, you now know how to make Minecraft run faster. If you have any questions about this Minecraft lag fix, let us know in the comments. We will try our best to help you out.
