Описание к видео Listen to the European Pied Flycatcher (Ficedula hypoleuca) - Song - early morning

Listen to the European Pied Flycatcher (Ficedula hypoleuca) - as it sings early morning.

This European pied flycatcher (Ficedula hypoleuca) have ben waken me up around 4 o´clock every morning now for a few weeks. It will sit outside our bedroom window and sing. It does have a beautiful song and is worth a listen to early in the morning.

This morning I decided to wake up early to film him.

Look at the white spots on the males forehead, just above their beaks. Female birds prefer male with large white spots.

During the migration - male birds return first to the breeding area to set up their territories. This male had found a suitable area that contains a few nesting boxes to choose from. Now he will fend off any male flycatcher and fight for this territory. All he now need is to find a suitable female partner. They will then nest in holes or in nest boxes.

As with the Willow Tit that I filmed a few days ago:
   • Why is this little bird becoming more rare...

The European pied flycatcher population is also in decline. And now in May it has returned to bread here in Northern Europe. As this little bird is a migratory bird it will winter on the tropical coast of west Africa. It can be found in shady, mixed and woodland. It feeds insects as the name imply. Think - it weigh only around 13 gram / 0.46 oz and have a life expectancy of only 4 years and 2 months. That must be a short but hectic life.

Length 13 cm / 5.12 in
Females lay 5 to 7 eggs

The sound you heard is the song of the European pied flycatcher. It was recorded in the camera, the internal preamps are quite good in the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4k - and the distance to the bird helped a lot to get clean sound this early morning.

The slogan "See the unseen" is used by Swarovski Optik.
I regularly use and film using their wonderful Spotting Scope and can highly recommend it.

As a child I have many memories about this bird nesting in a nesting box outside my brothers room. To me it was the most exotic bird I had ever seen. And I had to tell my teacher right away - maybe this bird was endangered, but no - it was only a less common bird in the area I grew up in and had only been seen there a few times before. Then when I was about 10 years old the bird disappeared and it did not return before I had children of my own.

As always I appreciate your comments.
