Based on the dialogue between AI, materials, and the people who experienced the war, "Memory Thawing" is a process of colorizing black-and-white photos from the prewar to the postwar period and reviving the "colors of memory". This presentation introduces a new way of passing on the "thoughts and memories" of war survivors, which the artist has been working on since his high school days.

Anju Niwata, exploring the "educational space of peace education," is a third-year student at the University of Tokyo's Faculty of Education.
Born in Hiroshima in 2001, Niwata has been involved in "memory thawing" since high school, using AI, documents, and dialogue to colorize black-and-white photos from the prewar to postwar periods and revive the "colors of memory". He received the 2020 President's Award from the University of Tokyo in recognition of his efforts to pass on the "thoughts and memories" of war survivors through exhibitions, videos, apps, and music production.
