The Jaín statue of Gommateshvara , Karnataka , India 2018.

Описание к видео The Jaín statue of Gommateshvara , Karnataka , India 2018.

During the Hoysala period , around 983 C.E. , this 17 meters tall figure was sculpted out of a monolithic stone. The muticolored pink-grey granite figure represents 'Bahubali', in the typical Jaín pose of determination and self-control. Probably because of a ritual that takes place every 12 years , including a washing with milk and honey etc. , this statue still looks fresh and beautiful today after more than a thousand years. As one of the largest and most important religious Jain statues in India it attracts many happy pilgrims .
