Their fairytale wedding, dubbed the "Fairy Wedding" by PT Barnum, was the event that started it all. Thousands filled Manhattan's Grace Church for the ceremony and the reception was held at the luxurious Metropolitan Hotel. The couple even received congratulations from President Abraham Lincoln at the White House.
