For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a 1977 Buick Special. This '77 Special is painted in an eye catching shade of a deep wine red with even darker red racing stripes and a great shine! During the restoration, each body panel was removed and replaced with rust free panels to ensure a near perfect fit and finish. Prior to paint the door handles and locks were shaved and now operate via electronic door poppers. To further enhance this sleek look, the bumpers were also painted body color. The lowered and aggressive stance are aided by 1" shorter springs, new shocks and 17" aluminum American Racing wheels. The wheels are wrapped in high performance rubber measuring 255/45R17 in the rear and 235/50R17 in the front. Hiding behind the wheels and aiding in drama free braking is a set of Wilwood high performance brakes that include drilled and slotted rotors and Wilwood calipers. Powering this sleek Buick is a 350 GM crate engine with only 800 miles. Engine accessories include an aluminum intake manifold with a Holley four barrel carburetor, chrome valve covers, MSD ignition, Air Conditioning components and tubular exhaust headers. All of this power is sent through a 700 R4 automatic transmission with overdrive and back to a 10 bolt rear end housing 4.11 gears. The transmission and rear end were both rebuilt during the restoration and also have only 800 miles! Inside you'll find a Houndstooth interior and more custom touches. Auto meter gauges keep you well informed of the engine's vitals and a custom built console to house the large tachometer that was made to replicate the old knee knocker tach form the 60's. The original radio is still in place although the tunes come from a new JVC CD player hidden in the glove box. Two 12" subwoofers mounted in the trunk help finish off a great sound system. A lot of time and money have gone into this build and you can rest assured it will be safe when left alone thanks to an alarm system to keep away envious passerbyers.
