➡️ The Townsend Thoresen Superteams Challenge was a huge BBC TV show in the 80s regularly attracting 20m + viewers on BBC1. Hosted by Ron Pickering & David Vine, the show pitched teams of sports stars from all kinds of disciplines against each other like rugby and football stars against cyclists and athletes. Andy Ruffell was the youngest ever participant at 17 and also one of the few invited to take part twice in 1984 and 1985.
