The world's largest integrated solar power generation project built by a Chinese enterprise has been connected to the national grid of the United Arab Emirates for power generation in the city of Dubai, converting solar energy into electricity for locals around the clock.

The fourth phase project of the Maktoum Solar Park, a key project under China's Belt and Road Initiative undertaken by the Shanghai Electric Group by contract, consists of a 262-meter-high solar power tower, three parabolic trough solar thermal collector units and a photovoltaic unit, with the total installed capacity coming up to 950 megawatt, covering an area of 44 square kilometers.

So far, the photovoltaic power generation unit of the fourth phase project has been put into commercial operation, and has begun to transmit electricity to Dubai.

The solar power tower of the project is expected to be put into commercial operation this summer, and the trough units are expected to be connected to the national grid for power generation by the end of this year.

As the world's largest integrated solar energy project so far, the fourth phase project of the Maktoum Solar Park features three technologies: the central tower solar thermal technology, the trough solar thermal technology and the photovoltaic power generation technology. After the project is completed and put into operation, it will meet the electricity demand of 320,000 households in Dubai, and reduce 1.6 million tons of carbon emissions every year, in helping save energy and reduce emissions.

Dubai announced the launch of the "Clean Energy Strategy" in November 2015, aiming to meet 75 percent of Dubai's total electricity demand with clean energy by 2050.

上海电气集团承建的“一带一路”重点项目马克图姆太阳能园区四期工程由一座262米高的太阳能发电塔、三个槽式太阳能集热器和一个光伏机组总装机容量达950兆瓦，占地44平方公里。

至此，四期项目光伏发电机组已投入商业运行，并已开始向迪拜输电。

项目太阳能塔预计今年夏天投入商业运营，槽式机组预计今年底并网发电。

作为迄今为止全球最大的一体化太阳能项目，马克图姆太阳能园区四期工程采用了三种技术：中心塔式光热技术、槽式光热技术和光伏发电技术。项目建成投产后，将满足迪拜32万户家庭用电需求，每年减少160万吨碳排放，助力节能减排。

迪拜于 2015 年 11 月宣布启动“清洁能源战略”，目标是到 2050 年用清洁能源满足迪拜 75% 的总电力需求。
