Описание к видео LAST OF THE BATTLESHIPS

(8 Aug 1960) In two world wars, the nucleus of sea-power lay with the Royal Navy's Battleships. But now, their day is over. HMS Anson, who helped to bring convoys through to Russia has been broken up. Gone, too, HMS Howe. Tugs were straining to pull her off, and after an hour and a half, they succeeded. Vanguard had begun her last journey. So, the tradition of the battleships is handed on to the giants of the future, the carriers with their air-borne striking power.
