Hot wings are essential football food – and there is no better way to eat chicken hot wings than to smoke them on your grill. Smoked chicken wings or smoked hot wings make some great football food.

And all you need to smoke chicken wings and make your own smoked hot wings is whole chicken wings, some BBQ Rub and a great sauce.

Once your chicken wings are smoked, you can toss them in whatever sauce you like. But for this recipe I am tossing my smoked wings into a traditional buffalo chicken wing sauce.

First you wash your chicken wings really well under cool water and then pat them dry. Next you come with a really great BBQ Rub – I use my own Killer Hog’s BBQ Rub that you can get here: http://howtobbqright.com/bbqshop/

Once the chicken wings are rubbed, get your smoker up to 275 and keep that temp steady there so your chicken wings can get smoked, get crispy skin and still get done inside.

Now it’s time to put your chicken wings on the smoker and smoke these hot wings. It’s going to take 1.5 – 2 hours total cook time. But make sure you check your chicken wings and turn them every 30 minutes. You don’t want them to get too dark – and you don’t want these buffalo chicken wings to get overdone.

Once your chicken wings are done, you simply bring them inside and toss them in whatever sauce you like. For my smoked chicken wings… I like to use a traditional hot sauce.

My Smoked Chicken Wing Sauce Recipe:

-8oz Franks Hot Sauce
-4 oz real butter
-2 TBS Honey
-1TBS Worcestershire Sauce
-1 tsp granulated garlic
-1 tsp black pepper

Melt butter in small sauce pot over medium heat. Add remaking ingredients and whisk until combined.

Now all that is left to do is eat these smoked chicken wings.

These smoked hot wings are the perfect football food for tailgates or parties at home.
