The insects include grasshoppers, crickets, silk worms, red ant eggs, beetles, locust and doodlebugs. There was even a three-inches long giant water bug filled with chewy gunge on the inside. Each of the protein-rich insects were fried before being sold on a stall at the Huai Khwang market in the capital Bangkok.

Local resident, Gam, is seen in the video sampling each of the creatures, which are regarded as a delicacy across Thailand and southeast Asia. Environmentalists even believe that bugs could be a super-food and provide a long-term solution to environmental issues caused by intensive meat farming. Incredibly, the most protein-rich insects contain between 13g and 77g of protein per 100g. They also contain healthy fats, iron, and calcium, and low in carbohydrates.
