Funny Women: AMY SCHUMER Dave's Tributes

The penultimate in my series of funny ladies is the wonderful hybrid of stand up and comedic actor: Amy Schumer. But that description does not do her justice and there is so much more to Ms Schumer than most people consider. Amy has been a writer, a creator of content for stage, screen - big and small; hosted special events like The Oscars and made appearances on EVERY platform possible - she is the quintessential funny girl de jour as the 2010's arrived, so did Amy Schumer. Although she had been working as a stand up performer since the 00's, it was the award winning sketch comedy series: 'Inside Amy Schumer' that catapulted her to international fame from 2013 onwards.

In 2015 Amy wrote and starred in the brilliant but raunchy movie 'Trainwreck' which garnered her Golden Globe and Writers' Guild nominations. Amy has written a memoir, recorded a comedy album which received a pair of Grammy nominations and she was also up for a Tony award on Broadway in 2018 for 'Meteor Shower' in no less than the prestigious category of Best Actress In A Play'. In addition to all of this, Amy has provided voice for animations series like The Simpsons, Family Guy as well as guest spots in iconic shows like 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' and 'Crashing' and recently 'Only Murders In The Building' There is simply nothing that this woman cannot do and do with her own inimitable style - and, er, at times awkward and irreverent way! Amy Schumer like pretty much all the greats, is not afraid to look like the fool and play with her looks on camera.

I have used Irish star Imelda May and her rollicking 'Inside Out' which unintentionally on my part, is a good fit for Amy, considering her most acclaimed work is called 'Inside Amy Schumer'. At just 41 in 2022, there are some bright days and successful ventures ahead for this talented dame, and I for one will be welcoming of them. Laughter is so desirable and necessary; now more than ever with the world having gone through (and still) devastation on so many fronts. It is indeed the best medicine, and Dr Schumer can dispense it as much as she wants in my book!
