There are already two radio adaptations of Daphne Du Maurier's gothic thriller on this channel, but I'm pleased to offer up this curiosity from the world of 1990s audiobooks.

Though TV programmes - especially comedies - had been released on audio for many years, the 1990s saw a brief period where TV dramas (and even a few feature films) were released in audio with specially-recorded narration. This was quite different to the audio description usually made available for the benefit of the visually impaired, because an effort was often made to make the new audio sympathetic to the drama, or even feel like part of it. This audio presentation of the 1997 ITV adaptation of Rebecca is one such example.

It's an excellent version of the story, and the lead cast also have excellent voices - Charles Dance in particular. While I can certainly recommend that those who are able to watch it should do so, this audio presentation taken from the original analogue release, repurposes a TV programme rather elegantly for the benefit of radio fans...
