Spearfishing New Zealand Locations // The Whangarei Heads

Описание к видео Spearfishing New Zealand Locations // The Whangarei Heads

One of the norths largest city's, Whangarei is host to a wide array of diving opportunities. One of particular interest and the topic of todays video is the Whangarei heads, a large outcropping of rock extending out into bream bay.

I currently live in Whangarei and it feels like a blessing to have such a spot so close to home, truly grateful.

Surrounded by deep water this area is home to many fish and a renowned stopping point for whales during seasonal migrations.

We will cover hunting techniques, safety and sustainability. All of which I believe to be lacking in the digital spearfishing space.

Butterfish are a popular target of many New Zealand Spearfishermen, favored for their delicate flesh and enjoyable hunt.

Blue mao mao are small but delicious, ideal for sushimi. A great sustainable option.

Silver Drummers are large herbivorous fish with less than ideal eating quality's. They are often shot for burley but should be left alone.

Respect the ocean and look after it, take what you need and leave what you dont. The world can be a better place and it starts with us making personal changes. Do something to give back to the universe.
