This is my investigation into the mysterious Barton upon Irwell, Roman Catholic cemetery on Peel Green Road, Eccles, Manchester, UK, which opened in 1820 and closed in 1948 with hundreds interred there.
The cemetery is in a very bad state of disrepair, with bottles, trash, traffic cones etc. which has just been littered there. Also, trees, fallen branches and a huge amount of weeds / undergrowth.
I spent months to work out who is the owner of the cemetery and with the help of Salford council, Kate Green (my local MP), Church authorities, Manchester and Lancashire archive/records offices, the Eccles Facebook group and my own research we had a successful answer into the investigation.
