French filmmaker Bertrand Tavernier talks about switching between the roles of director and cinephile in this NYFF Soft Focus interview. Tavernier was at the 54th New York Film Festival with his cinematic love letter My Journey Through French Cinema.

NYFF Soft Focus is created by Jeff Reichert & Farihah Zaman. The interviews were shot on a 1986 Jupiter-9 85mm vintage Russian lens, known for its swirly bokeh, which gives the videos their distinctive look.
