May 17 2023 Halibut fishing off the Oregon coast

Did a halibut trip with Jake and his friend Shinya, had a great time. I left the reeling of the halibut in, so you get an idea of just how long it took to land these barn doors. We all had electric reels, some borrowed, some never used. Shinya performed Ikejime which I've never seen done before. A practice I plan to learn. Look up the Wiki and other youtube's for Ikejime, it is a very interesting practice for processing fish catch. We ended the day with a double, good day in all. We tried long leader fishing, but didn't really have a good spot picked out, got the lines wet, learned some new stuff, but no bottom fish. A good day on the water, hope to do again before the end of the season.
