Montreal Metro Trains Summer 2024

Описание к видео Montreal Metro Trains Summer 2024

For the past 2 weeks I have been out of town and staying in Montreal. During my time there, it gave me a chance to film the Montreal Metro which is managed by the STM or Societe de Transport de Montreal, the public transit agency for Montreal.

0:00 Orange Line (MPM-10 AKA Azur)
4:15 Yellow Line (MR-73) at Berri-UQAM
12:05 Blue Line (MR-73)
24:39 Green Line (MPM-10 and MR-73)
40:30 Bonus: MR-63 at Exporail in Saint-Constant, Quebec

The Montreal Metro is made up of 4 lines, the Orange, Green, Yellow and Blue lines. First opened in 1966, the Montreal Metro was the second Rapid Transit system to be opened in Canada and the first to use Rubber-tires in North America. Upon its first day of operations, the system operated the MR-63s built by Canadian Vickers. Then during the 70s, due to various upcoming extensions and the 1976 Olympics, the predecessor of the STM, CTCUM needed more trains to supplement the existing MR-63s so Bombardier was selected to manufacture the MR-73s to mitigate this problem. In 1985 the CTCUM became the STCUM and then again in 2002, STCUM became the present-day STM. Then in the mid 2000s to the 2010s, the MR-63s were beginning to show their age so the STM begin to find a manufacturer to build new trains that will replace the MR-63s. This resulted in the creation of the MPM-10s or Azur which Bombardier and Alstom were selected to build the MPM-10s. The Azur's or MPM-10s featured plug-doors, open gangways and 3 wider each side per car. The first Azur trains first entered service and in 2016 and then 2 years later the MR-63s were finally retired and replaced in 2018.
Nowadays the MPM-10s/Azurs are found on the Green and Orange lines which are the most used lines in the system. The MR-73s ran on all 4 lines though currently they serve the Yellow line, Blue line and Green line though they run on the Green line during Rush hour on the weekdays. The MR-63s ran on all lines except the Blue line and ran on the Blue line during the retirement ceremony in 2010.
