The owner of an MG3 has been experiencing persistent problems with the 12v auxiliary battery in their car. The dealer changed the battery within the first year but it did not last long, and subsequent replacements have also failed. The owner has been advised that the issue may be caused by short trips, a software issue, or an unidentified software problem. The owner used a solar panel trickle charger to keep the battery topped up, but even when the car was left on trickle charge during a week-long holiday, the battery still died. The expert suggests that the car is suffering from a battery drain and advises the owner to write down a timeline of events and send it to the dealer, along with a complaint letter. The owner should request that the dealer take the car in and keep it until the problem is identified and fixed, and ask for a courtesy vehicle in the meantime. If the dealer does not respond, the owner should visit the dealership in person and escalate the complaint to MG UK. If necessary, the owner can seek a second opinion from a different dealer.
