One Life to Live 11/1/1990

Gabrielle tells Julia about the events of last evening’s dinner. She tries to get her mother to help her investigate the clinics where Tina could have gotten a paternity test, but Julia says there’s no good way to do that. Cord signs him and Tina up for a Lamaze class. Viki tells Sheila she wants to be able to walk down the aisle at Tina’s wedding. Sheila says she shouldn’t push herself too hard. Megan arrives at Viki's physical therapy session and Viki senses something is off. After some cajoling, Megan tells her Jake didn’t show up for dinner last night and she hasn’t heard from him since he picked Charlotte up at the hospital. Viki tells Megan to call Rafe, which she does. Jake wakes up, disoriented, and wonders why his arms are around a half-naked Charlotte. He tries to disentangle himself without disturbing Charlotte, but she wakes up as he is pulling on his clothes. She urges him to come back to bed and insinuates that they did more than just sleep in that bed. Jake has no recollection of what happened, and Charlotte seems offended that he doesn’t remember the things he said or did with her. When he doesn’t remember, she comes out and says they made love, but he says he would remember if something like that had happened. Charlotte says last night made it clear that he really does love her. Jake reminds her that he loves Megan, but she says they’re married and that isn’t changing unless she agrees to a divorce. Jake takes a walk to clear his head, and Charlotte hopes this whole plan hasn’t backfired on her.

Cord meets his uncle Bo for breakfast at the Palace restaurant. Bo says he has all the hotel exits covered and Porter hasn’t left his room yet or made a move for the black book. Alex arrives with some new information: Fred Porter’s daughter Lisa checked out of her boarding school this morning. Bo intuits that Porter is meeting up with his daughter so they can skip the country together. Alex cautions that Porter could be using his daughter as misdirection. Jessica tells Kim she’s excited because it’s the first shower she’s ever been to. Renee and Gabrielle work out the seating arrangements just as guests begin to arrive. Renee answers the door and brings Tina a package from the printers, which Tina opens and finds, to her horror, invitations to the wedding of Tina Roberts and Johnny Dee! Renee says Johnny has clearly gone off the deep end but advises Tina she act normal while everyone is around. Tina opens the gifts from her guests: a family heirloom from Viki, a negligee for the honeymoon from Wanda, and the necklace Gabrielle tried on recently from Renee and Asa. Lucky tells Jake about Megan’s anxious search for him last night and his role in keeping her from freaking out. He mentions that Megan stopped by Charlotte’s room last night. Jake beats himself up over what he believes happened last night and thinks he needs to tell Megan about this. Lucky says it was a mistake and he has no memory of it, so he can’t look Megan in the eye and say he slept with Charlotte. Jake counters that he can’t look her in the eye and say he didn’t, because he isn’t sure one way or the other. Jake says he’s going to find Megan now and tell her before she hears from someone else. Carlo visits Charlotte and she says everything went as planned, but he can tell she isn’t happy. She says she can’t have what she really wants: for Jake to actually love her. She feels bad hurting him but isn’t ready to give up. As the shower winds down, Tina tells Renee she has another complication. She explains she received a parking ticket in the mail this morning from Pine Valley for a violation when she went for the paternity test. They rejoin the party, but Tina leaves the parking summons on a table in the foyer. Gabrielle, curious why Tina and Renee had their heads together, picks it up and smiles. Viki thanks Megan for putting on a brave face for Tina. Megan says she’s going to head home to check if Jake called, but the doorbell rings as she’s getting ready to leave. She opens the door but no one is there. Megan finds a copy of the Intruder with a picture of Jake and Charlotte in bed together under the headline Mob Princess Shares Wedded Bliss with New Hubby.
