Global wave of protests condemns police brutality and systemic racism | Black Lives Matter

In the United States crowds once more gathered across the country over the weekend for more protests in the wake of George Floyd's killing in police custody. Thousands flocked to the heart of Washington, DC to voice their opposition to racism and police brutality. It comes as the majority of Minneapolis City Council members pledged to dismantle the police department, whose former officers have been charged for their role in Floyd's death two weeks ago. Many countries outside the US that also saw weekend anti-racism protests. While the rallies were mostly peaceful, scuffles broke out between protesters and police in Britain's capital London. Demonstrators in Bristol tore down the statue of the slave trader Edward Colston and pushed it into the harbor amid cheers.
