Getting sick is NO FUN! I repeat. GETTING SICK IS NO FUN!! Not only do you feel awful, but you also feel like you LOOK awful—both you and your house. Let’s be honest, nobody feels like scrubbing bathrooms and meal prepping when they barely have enough energy to stand.

One thing that helps me get through being sick and feeling “lazy” is knowing that the second I feel better, I can go hog-wild cleaning my apartment, scrubbing that bathroom, getting back into the gym, and meal prepping for the week.

No, laying on the couch all day when you're sick or low energy isn’t lazy. It’s your body telling you that you need to rest if you want to be able to jump back in at full speed.

One of the most difficult lessons I’ve had to learn as a pretty athletic, motivated human being is that we can’t always be chugging at 100%. We aren’t robots. We can’t just keep going until we collapse.

If we truly want to succeed in life, we need to learn to rest and be okay taking the time to heal ourselves. Here’s to mastering the art of recovery and accepting the fact that we need to take time to heal. And, here’s to those days/weeks after we’ve healed that feel the most productive, invigorating, and freeing as ever.
