STRUCTURE FIRE DESTROYS HOME IN LANDERS

Landers - San Bernardino County Fire crews responded to reports of a structure fire near the 2200 block of Belfield Boulevard in Landers this morning.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a single-story single-family residence mostly involved in fire. Two occupants had self-evacuated prior to arrival and sustained burn injuries. Both victims were treated on scene and transported to local hospitals by Morongo Basin Ambulance.

Due to the volume of fire and heavy content load inside the structure, crews assumed an exterior defensive operation, deploying multiple hose lines to surround the home, protect nearby exposures including horses, and prevent extension to surrounding vegetation.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the structure of origin.

A total of four engines, one water tender, one battalion chief, one public information officer, and one fire investigator responded to the scene, with assistance provided by Cal Fire and Morongo Basin Ambulance.

No firefighter injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by San Bernardino County Fire’s Office of the Fire Marshal.
