Hey everyone! Welcome to my channel, AI in Resham. Today, we’re going to set up Proxmox High Availability. This way, we can easily move one VM or LXC container from one server to another with almost no downtime. And guess what? The container can even auto-migrate if its node fails. It’ll just hop to another available node. Check out this demo of an LXC Ubuntu container where you can see all the HA magic in action.

Now, here’s how you can set it up:

1. Download Proxmox from the official website and burn it to a USB drive using Rufus or BalenaEther on Windows or Mac.
2. Install Proxmox as a standalone on three servers with unique IP addresses and hostnames.
3. Once the Proxmoxs are installed, you can access them from a computer outside the servers. Just go to your browser and enter the server’s IP address (8006d works for Proxmox) in the address bar.
4. You can disable the Production subscription and enable No Subscription for your Home Lab, but it’s a good idea to get a production license for real-world use.
5. On the first node (or any of the three), create a Proxmox cluster and get the “Join Cluster information” to use it for the other nodes to join.
6. Install Ceph on the first node with “No Subscription” for your Home Lab, but get a production license for production use. Choose the network for the cluster or storage network for Ceph. Set up OSD and monitors on each node.
7. Finally, create a pool that will be shared as a Pool and used for HA.

Now, here’s what you do next:

1. Download the LXC Ubuntu template and create a container of it.
2. Set up a HA Group that includes the nodes you want for HA.
3. Assign the Ubuntu container to the HA Group and try to shut down its primary node.
4. After a while, the LXC container will be automatically migrated to another server or node.
