How to Scratch-Build a Vintage Amp, Part 1: Research and Methods

In this video series, Rusty and I will explain and demonstrate all the steps required to scratch-build any vintage amp, beginning with selecting a suitable amp, studying its structure and design, and establishing the multi-step process by which the construction will proceed.

Although I have chosen a Supro Tremo-Verb Model 6422RT for this demonstration, the principles described can be applied to the recreation of any vintage amplifier. Since this is a scratch-build, rather than a restoration, possible improvements to the circuit, controls, cabinet, and cosmetics of the amplifier are possible without altering the value and collectibility of a real vintage amp.
