An 18-year-old Lorain City Schools student, Isaac Brocco Rivera, died after being shot in the head at Lakeview Park North on Saturday evening, according to police.

Lorain police officers responded to the park, located at 1700 West Erie Avenue, at 6:44 p.m. after receiving a report that a shooting had just occurred.

Officials say police found a vehicle parked near the west end of the lot, with the 18-year-old victim unresponsive inside with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

Officers rendered first aid and called EMS personnel to transport Brocco-Rivera to a Lorain hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The Lorain Police Department's Criminal Investigations Bureau is investigating the shooting as a homicide. No information on any potential suspects was made available.

In a message to the community shared on the district's social media pages Sunday afternoon, Lorain City Schools Superintendent Dr. Jeff Graham identified the victim as Brocco-Rivera. Graham said Brocco-Rivera was a senior in the Lorain Success Academy.

"I’m sorry, but we are not able to share any more details at this time, as the Lorain Police Department investigates the circumstances surrounding his death. Please keep his family in your hearts and prayers during this difficult time," Graham said in the message. "I apologize for not sharing this information sooner. Our delay was out of respect to the family and at the request of the Lorain Police Department."

Anyone with information on the fatal shooting is asked to call the detectives at 440-204-2105. Callers may provide a tip anonymously.

"Please know that we have engaged our crisis team and will have supports available for long as needed for students and staff beginning tomorrow morning," Graham said. "Hold your loved ones a little closer and a little tighter, and have a blessed evening."
